About Sherlock

Sherlock is a super handsome boy, he is 6 years old and came into rescue from a pet home.

He loves his humans and is so affectionate. He has a hugely expressive face and is very comical! He can be nervous in new situations and when meeting new people and other dogs. In the home he is the dream dog, he loves being cuddled and adores his special humans.

On walks he is very vocal when he sees other dogs and some strangers also. We feel that this is mainly due to lack of socialisation. He can be a little strong on the lead and is really going to need ongoing training with regard to meeting other dogs when he is out and about. Ideally he will live in a quiet area where he can be exercised without having to see too many strangers/other dogs as he becomes anxious.

He loves to bark in the garden at birds, squirrels and noises. This may settle down further with some training but he commonly will ignore your requests! He travels very well in the car and loves a ride out somewhere new.

Sherlock came into rescue very overweight and he is looking fantastic at the moment so his weight will need to be monitored closely, especially as he has been recently neutered. He has had a dental in rescue and is up to date with vaccines, worming etc. He has a low grade heart murmur, this will need monitoring. He has mild chiari malformation with pain and has very much improved with pain relief so this will need to be continued- this is very inexpensive. He has luxating knees but copes so well that surgery isn't needed.

He would prefer to live as an only dog. Children and visiting children over 12 years old. He sadly does not like cats or other small furries.
