Rusty is a 10-month-old bundle of fun who came into foster under heartbreaking circumstances. His previous family absolutely adored him and did everything they could to support him through his health and behavioural challenges. However, despite their efforts, Rusty was struggling in a home with a young child, and it became clear that it wasn’t the best environment for him—or for the child. With heavy hearts, they made the difficult decision to do what was right for him.
Since arriving in foster, Rusty has absolutely blossomed! With his health issues now well-managed and his behaviour settling down, he’s embracing life with a newfound sense of fun. He’s loving playtime, zooming around the house, and even instigating games with his foster fur brother. He walks beautifully on the lead, enjoys his outings, and happily sleeps in a crate in his foster mum’s bedroom—though he’s an early riser when it comes to breakfast! He can be left for short periods but much prefers having his humans around.
Rusty is now on an inexpensive medication for CM/SM and is thriving. He also has a sensitive tummy, so he’s on a specialist diet that keeps him feeling his best. He is up to date with vaccinations and parasite preventatives.
What Rusty needs now is a home that understands his guarding behaviour and is willing to continue working with him. He’s not a ‘bad boy’—just misunderstood. With the right guidance, patience, and love, he will be the most wonderful, fun, and affectionate companion.
