Paisley is 6 and sassy! A tricolour Cavalier girl with bags of confidence and therefore able to be rehomed with or without other dogs.
She has settled well in her foster home but does need to learn a few manners when getting ready for walks or going in the car. She loves her walk but tries to grab at the lead or harness when getting ready. Once out of the house she is happy and eager so pulls a little and can reactively bark at other dogs she sees. She is improving day by day though and does thoroughly enjoy being out and about. A good walk time for Paisley is 30 minutes at the moment, as she loses weight exercise will be easier for her.
In the car she will chew at seat belt harnesses or leads and try and jump around so we have switched to a travel crate on the back seat and now she is much better.
She does not like cats, birds or squirrels and will bark and try and chase them.
Paisley would be fine around older children and loves a cuddle. When she wants attention she will come and tap you to tell you. She is hard of hearing so teaching her basic commands and recall is more challenging, however, she is a total foodie so some concentrated teaching soon works. She sleeps really well but does need to be able to see her human family. She will settle in a crate but does prefer to be able to move around and sleep on the bed if possible.
Being such a foodie she has a weight problem and needs to lose approx 1-2 kgs. She has lost some weight in rescue and now is on a better-balanced diet. She has joined Cavalier Fat Club and her adopters will need to submit monthly weigh ins and commit to her weight loss journey.
She has a low-grade heart murmur that will need regular monitoring for progression, but it currently requires no medication. She has Chiari Malformation and Syringomyelia with pain but this is now under control with inexpensive medication which she will need to stay on. She has been spayed in rescue and had a dental with just 2 teeth extracted. She also has dry eye so is on medication for this which must be continued.
Paisley has BOAS with an overlong soft palette and short skull causing her to snort, snore and breathe loudly. She will need to keep cool in warmer weather and it can affect her ability to exercise. A more healthy weight should help her with her symptoms.
She is up to date with parasite preventatives and vaccinations.
She can be left for short periods but would be a wonderful addition to a home where someone is around most of the time to give her the love she needs. In return, she will shower her new family with all the love she has to offer.
