About Nutmeg

Nutmeg is a beautiful, 6 year old Cavapoo that came into rescue from a breeder.

With her Cavapoo good looks, apricot fur and those big brown eyes, Nutmeg is a real smasher. She’s not just a floofball who can flutter her long eyelashes for favours, though. That sweet exterior reflects an inner dog who is smart and funny, stubborn and curious, independent yet yearning for love.

She is a healthy girl. However, she has had a mammary tumour removed while in rescue which was thankfully benign. Her adopter will need to ensure frequent veterinary checks as she could go on to develop more tumours which may or may not be cancerous. She also came with sore ears for which she received treatment, this may recur so close attention will be needed with her ears. She has been spayed, had a dental and her vaccine course. Her adopter will receive 4 weeks free Petplan insurance.

When Nutmeg came into rescue she was a bewildered little soul who was very scared of everything that happens in this strange thing called life. She’s grown in confidence but can still be a nervous explorer and is easily spooked by the unexpected, so she needs lots of reassurance when out and about and to be on lead until her recall is rock solid.

She really does enjoy her home comforts. Nutmeg’s favourite things are cuddles on the sofa (and the bed, if she’s allowed), a good fire so she can warm her belly, good food … and her people. She has been left for short periods and does cope, with the help of her current foster pack, but will need her time alone building up very gradually and may never be able to be left for longer stretches.

Nutmeg is looking for experienced owners who can provide training refreshers and continue with her housetraining. We think she could live with older children who will give her space and be respectful, and she could live with a resident dog or dogs who are calm and confident. She is not cat tested. She has benefited from the support of her doggy pals, but she can be jealous for attention and does over-bond, so she’ll want a multi-carer household to spread the love around.

She would like to live in a quieter area, with her own garden for training and burn-offs (Nutmeg is an energetic girl when she’s not snoozing, and partial to a zoomie or two around the lawn). She will need a very secure garden and to be closely supervised when outside during her settling in period, as her initial nerves in new surroundings can make her a flight risk.

One final thing – Nutmeg is a convicted footwear thief, and a shameless repeat offender. If you like to see your slippers turning up unexpectedly in the log basket, she’s the girl for you. A livewire, a lovebug and a cuddle buddy. Could Nutmeg be your Bliss-full dream companion?
