About Monty
Monty is an adorable, quiet, gentle, 7 year old black and tan Cavalier who came into rescue from a pet home.
He is quite happy with his doggy friends in his foster home but he could possibly go as an only dog as long as the adopter is around most of the time. Monty loves exploring the garden and going on walks. He does pull quite a lot and is being walked on a Halti anti-pull harness and lead and is improving. He can get vocal when he sees cats and other dogs out, but again this is improving. He will need a strong adopter willing to put some time into training him further and continue the work started with his foster family. At the moment he is not a particularly cuddly dog, he will come for a fuss and lay at your feet, and sometimes lie on your lap for a cuddle. He will lie on the sofa and talk to the television when he hears certain sounds, he didn't like the drums on Trooping the Colour on the Queens birthday!!! He doesn’t really play with toys, he will chase a ball but doesn’t attempt to bring it back.At night or if foster mum is out he sleeps in the kitchen with foster mum’s dogs, he is house trained and will bark if he needs to go out, he responds to his name and will come in from the garden when called. He travels very well in the car, he goes on the back seat secured by a seat belt to his harness.Monty has been neutered while in rescue and had a dental, which sadly resulted in having all but his canines removed. He is learning to adapt to eating, he is fed on Burns Sensitive, soaked, and Lily’s Kitchen. He will eat some by himself and foster mum hand feeds him the rest. He needs to put on just a little weight. Monty has Syringomyelia which manifests itself through air scratching. He is currently on medication for this which he must remain on (approx £25 a month) -this manages his pain and symptoms very well. His heart is clear. He is looking for a quiet home, with or without a resident dog, children oven 14 and without a cat. The adopter will need to commit to ongoing training with regards to lead training and vocalisation when out. Monty is an absolutely gorgeous boy who’s looking forward to great, new adventures with his adopter.Monty is in foster in Horncastle, Lincolnshire.
