Lyra is available for adoption and is in foster in Pontefract, West Yorkshire.
7-year-old Lyra came to the rescue from a large breeding establishment. She has come on fantastically well since she arrived at her foster home.
She has started to trust you and will take treats from you, but she is still very nervous. Lyra has learnt to walk on the lead alongside the other resident dogs but can be reluctant on her own. She loves to go on walks and is currently walking a few times a day for 30 mins each time, but she could walk for much longer.
Lyra will sleep on a dog bed or the sofa during the day and sleeps on the bed with her humans at night. She loves her home comforts and has even started to play with soft toys. She travels extremely well in the car, curls up in her car seat quite happily, and goes to sleep.
She is heart clear but does have mild chiari malformation pain. She is well-maintained on inexpensive pain relief, which she will need to carry on taking. She has no other known health problems and has had a major dental, spay and hernia repair while in rescue. She is vaccinated and up to date with all worming and flea treatment.
She will need a very quiet, calm, patient home to help her grow in confidence. She must have a confident, friendly resident dog in her forever home to help settle her and go for walks with her. Lyra is prey driven and is not cat friendly; she loves to run and bark at squirrels and cats in the garden. Lyra could happily live with children over 8 years. She is too nervous to be around young children due to her background and chiari malformation pain.
