Hunter ruby Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

Beautiful Ruby Cavalier Hunter is looking for his forever home. He will be 3 in September and is adorable.

He is a very sweet, intelligent, but nervous boy. He loves his humans and sleeps well through the night, but he needs to be close by.

He needs plenty of stimulation and exercise, he loves his walks. He is fine around other dogs he meets but can be nervous of new people. He travels well in the car with a harness and seatbelt attached.

At the moment, his anxiety and nervousness manifest themselves with loud barking whenever you pick up his lead and harness or in the car as you arrive at the destination. As soon as he is out of the car, or 2 minutes into the walk, he settles, but he is overwhelmed with excitement for a few minutes. He responds well to commands when he has settled and is a joy to walk.

He has improved greatly during the time he has been in foster care, but the adoption move could unsettle him again, and adopters must be prepared.

Ideally, Hunter needs an active resident dog with whom he can play. Currently, he cannot cope with being alone in the home for too long. This might settle with time, but for this reason, we need people who are around most of the day. He would settle happily at the feet of someone working from home.

Hunter has some Chiari pain and initially did not want to be stroked or cuddled much. He has responded well to medication, which is inexpensive, and he is now happier being groomed, fussed and stroked. He builds up to trusting you in his own time but now is very happy to cuddle up.

Other than his chiari pain he is in good health and heart clear. He is microchipped and up to date with parasite treatments, worming and his vaccinations.

Children 12+ due to his anxiety. He is not cat tested but doesn’t seem bothered by cats we have seen outside of pigeons we walk past.

Hunter is in foster in Beverley, East Yorkshire. His adopter(s) must be prepared to purchase a lifetime insurance policy or have the means to cover future health issues. Home workers must be able to produce a contract/or a letter from their employer. Tenants must send a letter from their landlord stating they have permission to have the dog at their property.

Please only apply when you have discussed this with all family members, are committed to offering the dog a home, and have fully considered their needs.

The successful applicants must be able to travel to the foster home for the meet and greet and be immediately available for a home check. The meet and greet must occur within five days of a successful home check. Can we please remind you not to telephone the rescue regarding adoptions at any time.
