About Henry

Henry is a handsome large 2 year old Black and Tan cavalier that came into rescue from a pet home.

He is a chunky built dog who needs to lose a few kilos, he will need to remain on a low fat diet until he reaches a healthy weight for his size. Adopters will be required to join the Bliss Cavalier Fat Club which will offer help and support for his weight loss journey. He would also benefit from increasing his exercise as his fitness levels improve, he is currently walking 45/60 minutes twice per day.

Henry can become anxious in new situations and needs to be introduced to these slowly and under supervision to increase his confidence. He will bark sometimes at people and dogs but with a reassuring voice he calms down. Whilst in rescue we have seen his confidence grow so further socialisation training will need to be continued.

Henry is very obedient he will come when called, sit on command, give a paw, sit and wait for his dinner and go to bed when asked. He loves to be in the garden and for his humans to throw his ball so he can bring it back to you. He is fully housetrained, walks well on a lead and travels well in the car, either in a crate or attached to a seat belt. He will sometimes bark and chase birds in the garden but does bark at dogs on the TV.

Henry has a low grade heart murmur, he is not on medication however his heart will need to be assessed annually. We believe he has grass pollen allergies, this is easily managed with medication when required.

Henry has not been cat tested whilst in rescue however we have been told that he lived with a cat. Henry sleeps in the kitchen at night and can be left for short period of time. Henry needs a loving home with his adopters around most of the time, you need to be fit and healthy and be able to commit to giving him regular exercise and further training to increase his confidence. Due to his size he can only be re homed with older dog savvy children.

Henry is in foster in Scarborough, North Yorkshire. The successful applicants must be able to travel to the foster home for the meet and greet and be immediately available for a home check.
