Cooper is a cute, but perhaps not straightforward, 7-month-old black and tan Cavalier pup. Please read very carefully before applying.
Sadly Cooper came into rescue following resource guarding and fear in his previous home. He became unsafe around the children, and despite behaviourist intervention, he could not cope with living in a home with children. For this reason, we cannot accept applications from anyone with children or visiting children under 14 years old.
Cooper has been doing amazingly well in his foster home with other dogs. He has vastly improved, and his confidence is so much better. He likes to have space when he’s nervous. He absolutely needs to be around other confident dogs and must continue training in his forever home. He needs stimulation and a place where he can relax away from everyone else if he wants.
He is incredibly loving and will come and sit on your lap for cuddles when he knows and trusts you. He is wary of loud noises and cars, so ideally, he would be walked in quieter places. He loves exploring but needs more work on his recall, especially with being a nervous boy.
Cooper has chiari malformation pain, which is likely the reason he has been so nervous and displayed behaviour issues at such a young age. He is on inexpensive medication, and this must continue as it has helped him so much. He also has dry eye so is on medication for this, he will need to remain on this. He has no other known health issues. He will be adopted on a neuter contract as he is too young currently.
We are looking for an active home for Cooper without resident or visiting children. There must be at least one confident dog in his forever home to help him continue to improve.
Cooper is in foster in North Lincolnshire. His adopter(s) must be prepared to purchase a lifetime insurance policy or have the means to cover any future health issues. Home workers must be able to produce a contract/letter from their employer. Tenants must send a letter from their landlord stating they have permission to have the dog at their property.
