Charlie is a sweet, 3-year-old Blenheim Cavalier boy looking for his forever home.
He came into rescue with an undiagnosed and untreated immune-mediated skin disease, likely pemphigus foliaceous. He had large open sores all over his body and was a poorly little boy. He responded to immunosuppressive treatment immediately and is currently being weaned off medication for this. As with all immune-mediated diseases, it could recur, but it has been inexpensive to treat now he has been diagnosed. He sadly also suffers from painful chiari malformation and is on inexpensive medication for this, which will need to be continued. These conditions are now pre-existing, so they wouldn’t be covered by insurance.
We have seen such a huge transformation since his arrival, and he is a super happy boy. He is a loving chap and enjoys snuggling up with you on the sofa. He is full of beans, enjoys going on walks and exploring, and is very good when out and nicely meets other dogs. Charlie travels very well in the car.
He does suffer from separation anxiety and prefers to sleep in the same room as his humans. You can leave him for short periods; his issues are more if he knows you are in the house i.e. when you are in another room away from him, then he will want to be with you. He is crate trained for short periods only. He doesn’t enjoy being groomed, especially his ears and chest areas but has improved.
Charlie is a young boy so would prefer an active home with his adopters around most of the time. He cannot be rehomed with resident or visiting young children. He can be rehomed with or without another dog.
Charlie is in foster in North Lincolnshire. His adopters must be prepared to purchase a lifetime insurance policy or have the means to cover any future health issues. Home workers must be able to produce a contract from their employer. Tenants must send a letter from their landlord stating they have permission to have the dog at their property.
