π§ Behaviour & Personality
πΎ Behaviour traits: Very friendly and affectionate; a proper lap dog who loves cuddles and kisses. Social with people and other dogs, and confident with visitors (he loved all the Christmas comings and goings). Playful and enjoys wrestling with his foster brother. Not hugely into toys yet (likely due to previous dental pain), but will occasionally play with a ball.
πΎ Activity level: High – very active for his age and full of fun (more like a youngster than a βseniorβ).
π Training required: Lead training (can pull). Recall work recommended – he is food-motivated, so this should be very achievable.
About Charles
He is a 9-year-old bundle of fun who came into rescue in sad circumstances. He loves people and other dogs and has been an absolute good boy in foster care; he even likes the vets!
Charles is playful and enjoys a good wrestle with his foster brother, although he hasnβt been very interested in toys. We hope this will change now that he is out of pain following significant staged dental procedures. We suspect his previous reluctance to play was due to discomfort in his mouth, although he does occasionally enjoy a ball.
He sleeps on his foster mumβs bed and loves being close. Cuddles and kisses are very much his thing, and he is a true lap dog. He has been fantastic with comings and goings over Christmas and absolutely loved all the attention from visitors.
While in foster, Charles has had a heart scan and currently requires no medication. He will, however, need regular check-ups and future scans to monitor whether medication may be needed later in life. He is on Galliprant for arthritis in his knee from his luxating patella.
He is very active and can pull a little on the lead, but with some work, we believe he will be ready to go off-lead. He is food-motivated, so recall should be easy to teach. Charlie does have a luxating patella, but it does not currently bother him and does not require surgery at this time. He has built up good muscle in foster and honestly acts more like a 9-month-old than a 9-year-old.
Charlie needs someone around most of the time to give him the attention he adores, and he will repay you with every bit of that love in return. He is a wonderful boy looking for his forever, fun-loving family.
