About Bill and Ben
Bill and Ben are gorgeous brothers from the same litter that came into rescue from a pet home.
The boys came into rescue due to a sad change in their owners circumstances. They love their walks and get very excited on them, they are very good meeting other dogs and new people when out and about. The boys are trained in basic obedience and are house trained. They came into rescue overweight so their fosterer has been working extremely hard to get weight off them, this must be continued in their forever home. They enjoy their food and can guard their bowls so will need watching when eating. Bill does have some dominance tendencies and jealousy with Ben and will push him out of the way to get attention, he will sometimes also growl and snap at him. This has improved a lot and a stern 'no' will usually stop this but the adopter must be confident with managing this behaviour. Bill has had an extensive anal tumour removed, it was benign but was invasive. The surgery was curative and he was also neutered which will help any further development of tumours. Bill will need to have his anal glands emptied frequently. He also has had a scale and polish and some hip x rays- he has mild hip dysplasia and hip pain is managed now very well but he will need to remain on anti inflammatory medication.Ben has displayed symptoms of Chiari Malformation with pain so is also on anti inflammatory medication which is really helping him and he no longer yelps when lifted. He has Mitral Valve Disease currently with a grade 4 murmur. Following an echocardigram he started pimobendan heart medication which we hope will keep him well for a long time- again he will need to stay on this for the rest of his life, as time progresses it is likely he will need more medication adding into the mix. Ben also has dry eye syndrome and is doing well on Optimmune so he will need to continue with this also. He has also been neutered and had a scale and polish. They have been around cats and will chase them out of curiosity but could live with a dog savvy cat. Resident children and visiting children over 12+ as Bill can be boisterous. The boys are in foster in Pontefract, West Yorkshire. You will be required to travel to their foster home for the meet and greet.
