Lovely 2-year-old Cavalier Rupert is looking for a wonderful forever home.
Rupert is a gorgeous, much bigger Cavalier. He is approximately 18kg.
He laps up cuddles and attention and loves to sit on your lap for a fuss. He is fantastic when out and about, meeting new people and other dogs. He loves his walks and is a happy lad. He enjoys a long snooze after walks and is not a high-energy dog.
He is not a barker and is keen to learn basic commands. He travels very well. He can be stubborn and sit down on walks if he wants to go in a different direction!
He came to the rescue due to resource-guarding items around the house. His previous owners had young children, so there was a risk to their safety, especially if he took their toys. Since he has been in rescue, the guarding has lessened but he still has his moments. He typically pinches random things, handbags, coats, pegs, and toilet paper and takes them to his bed. He will give them up in exchange for a squeaky toy usually.
Rupert has mild hip dysplasia. He has a joint supplement and needs to stay trim, but he may benefit from hydrotherapy and may need pain relief in the future. He has inexpensive anxiety medication, and he is very laid back generally with the help of the medication. He has mild allergies, so he is on a special diet. He is neutered and up to date with vaccinations and parasite preventatives.
We are looking for a home where there is someone around for most of the time. Children over 14 years old. He is not cat-tested.
Rupert is in foster in North Lincolnshire. His adopter(s) must be prepared to purchase a lifetime insurance policy or have the means to cover any future health issues. Home workers must be able to produce a contract/letter from their employer. Tenants must send a letter from their landlord stating they have permission to have the dog at their property.
