Dixie is available for adoption. She is a 6-year-old Blenheim Cavalier currently in foster care in Wakefield.
Dixie is a character – she has her playful moments, especially with her soft toys, and can be quite independent in her play. While she enjoys her walks and possesses an active side, she’s equally content in a quieter setting. This girl has a bit of a “diva princess” flair, so she might take a little time to adjust and warm up to her surroundings.
She enjoys her food but will defend her bowl if any of her greedy foster brothers try to pinch it. She gets on well with other dogs and people that don’t overwhelm her, as she is used to being in pain and anticipates that being touched will still hurt.
Dixie does come with some health concerns that prospective adopters should be aware of. She has a grade 2 heart murmur that will require regular vet check-ups and an echo in the next 12 months. Additionally, she suffers from chiari malformation and is on pain relief for it. Now she is on medication and is having a wonderful time; the contrast is night and day. Dixie has had an extensive dental procedure in her time with the rescue and is now up-to-date with vaccinations and parasite preventatives.
We believe Dixie would best fit in a home with older children, preferably aged 8 and above. She can be around older children that know that she needs space, she just needs that special home that will show her how to enjoy the rest of her life with love and play. She hasn’t been tested with cats. She can be rehomed with or without other dogs.
Dixie is looking for a patient and understanding forever home that can provide her with the care and attention she requires.
