Ruben is a handsome, 5-year-old ruby Cavalier looking for a wonderful forever home.
He is a loving little chap who enjoys walking, sniffing, and cuddling on your lap. Ruben needs a few decent walks every day and would benefit from some confidence training too. He loves going out in the car, especially when going off on little adventures. He’s very good when out and meeting new people and other dogs.
He has some guarding issues with food. We have managed to improve things by feeding him separately from the other dogs. He barks for dinner and when he thinks he might get a treat, but his training has really come a long way in a short time.
He sleeps well at night in the kitchen and is pretty easygoing. Ruben is very fussy and friendly and will come and invade your personal space for a cuddle! He really hasn’t had the best start in life and came into rescue due to issues with children.
Ruben sadly has chiari malformation pain and is on pain relief (approximately £10 per month). He has a medium-grade heart murmur, he has had an echocardiogram while in rescue, and thankfully, his heart is not enlarged. Therefore he does not need medication at this time. He has no other known health problems and is now up to date with vaccinations, flea, and worming treatments. He will come with 4 weeks of free Petplan insurance.
Ruben needs a home without children/visiting under 12. Ideally, his adopters will be around a lot of the time. He can live with another dog(s) as long as his adopter will continue the training with regard to his resource guarding.
Ruben is in foster in North Lincolnshire. His adopters must be prepared to purchase a lifetime insurance policy or have the means to cover any future health issues. Home workers must be able to produce a contract from their employer. Tenants must send a letter from their landlord stating they have permission to have the dog at their property.
The successful applicants must be able to travel to the foster home for the meet and greet and be immediately available for a home check. The meet and greet must occur within 5 days of a successful home check. Please can we remind you not to telephone the rescue regarding adoptions at any time. You are more than welcome to email us with any [email protected]
