Max is a 4-year-old Blenheim boy with just the sweetest nature. He came into rescue under sad circumstances but is adorable, calm and gentle and loves to cuddle up close.
He is looking for a forever home where he can have the company of another gentle dog and enjoy long walks and adventures. Max loves to walk and is good on the lead, he sits beautifully to have his harness put on and to be dried off when wet. He loves being brushed or combed and has a tendency to fall asleep while you do it. It should be mentioned that he is strong and can pull hard with excitement. He does respond to commands well though so continued lead training is encouraged. He enjoys meeting other dogs and people and is very sociable with visitors to the house and out meeting on his walks. He is very gentle around children but be mindful of his pulling on the lead.
He is great in the car and sits happily on the back seat clipped into the seatbelt. He has been left during the day for up to 2 hours without bother but if left to sleep in the kitchen he does like to wake you early. Will sleep in a lot later if he can see the humans he loves.
Max is overweight and on a strict diet to lose a few kgs and this must continue through the Bliss Cavalier Rescue Fat Club. He has a luxating patella that does not require surgery at the moment, taking the pressure off his joints with weight loss with help so much. He is taking a joint supplement.
He has a medium-grade heart murmur, he has had an echocardiogram while in rescue and doesn’t currently need medication, but he will need to be reviewed regularly. He is finishing a course of treatment for ear problems, and this is improving, and he has had a major dental. Sadly Max does have chiari malformation pain for which he is on pain relief, this will need to be continued for the rest of his life to ensure he is comfortable.
Max can be rehomed with children over 10 years. Out walking or in the garden he does not react to birds but is reactive to cats and we would be looking for a cat-free home for him.
Max is in foster in Beverley, East Yorkshire. His adopter must be prepared to purchase a lifetime insurance policy or have the means to cover any future health issues. Home workers must be able to produce a contract from their employer.
