About Fern
Fern is a beautiful 4 year old Blenheim Cavalier that came into rescue from a breeding establishment.
She has improved absolutely fantastically since she came into Bliss. When she arrived she wasn't used to being handled or being in a loving home so it has taken time for her to adapt and get used to the good life. She has now started to trust but is still very skittish, she mainly only trusts her foster mum at the moment. Her adopter will need to be very patient as she may never be a confident dog in all situations, we do hope as time goes on and in a routine that she will improve further.Fern has learnt to walk on the lead really well and loves to go out on her walks, she is currently walking a few times a day for 30 mins but could go longer. She travels extremely well in the car and curls up in her car seat quite happily.Fern sleeps on the bed with her foster humans, she does have puppy pads down for throughout the night as sometimes she does need to use them (this is becoming less). She is otherwise very clean in the house. She does sadly have a grade 4 heart murmur, currently she is not symptomatic. She has had an echocardiogram in rescue, although she doesn't need medication yet she will need another echocardiogram in 6-12 months and it is likely she will need medication at that stage. Fern has chiari malformation with pain and is doing very well on inexpensive pain relief, this must be continued in her forever home.Fern will need a very quiet, calm patient home to help grow her confidence and there must be at least one confident resident fdog in her forever home. She wouldn’t be comfortable to live with small children though due to her nervous nature, any resident of visiting children need to be 10+Fern is in foster in Pontefract, West Yorkshire. The successful applicants must be able to travel to the foster home for the meet and greet and be immediately available for a home check.
